A recent international study has identified seven conditions associated with the main COVID-19 vaccines administered worldwide. The findings regarding the Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca doses have reignited the discussion on monitoring their safety on a global scale. Specialists with the Global Vaccine Data Network conducted a study identifying seven diseases or side effects directly related to the administration of COVID-19 vaccines developed by Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca. Following the findings, the lead researchers emphasized that this unprecedented scenario underscores the urgent need to maintain comprehensive safety monitoring of the vaccines.
According to the report, the recorded health conditions varied depending on the pharmaceutical developer. For the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the study linked the occurrence of facial paralysis, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, and myocarditis. Meanwhile, regarding the Moderna doses, the presence of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, pulmonary embolism, myocarditis, and pericarditis was observed.
Finally, regarding the formula developed by AstraZeneca, experts linked its administration to Guillain-Barré syndrome, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, and myocarditis. Despite the identification of these conditions, research authorities clarified that most of these side effects are rare, concluding that the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the existing risks.
